At Serenity Dental in Lutz and Wesley Chapel, we do a lot more than traditional preventive and restorative dentistry. We provide the best care using the latest equipment and advanced techniques. We also do orthodontics and implant placement.
One aspect of a beautiful, healthy smile is the proper alignment of your teeth.
Many adults do not want to be seen wearing braces and are impatient to get their dentistry done as quickly as possible, so they ask us about veneer treatment to make cosmetic corrections. Although veneers can modify the appearance of tooth spacing, tooth size and shape, they are not always the recommended treatment. This article will help you understand why a course of orthodontics, such as the Invisalign® treatment we offer at Serenity Dental, might be your best choice.
If Dr. Nilash Patel or Dr. Nitash Patel recommend tooth alignment as part of your treatment plan, it is because they know that creating an optimal bite is in your best interest now and long into the future, for both oral health and the functional wear of the dentistry you choose. Moving your teeth into proper alignment through orthodontics not only gives you a beautiful smile but also aligns your teeth so your teeth, jaw muscles and jaw joints work comfortably and harmoniously. The proper spacing of your teeth also results in your ability to brush and floss all surfaces of your teeth more easily and thoroughly, reducing harmful bacteria that cause dental caries and gum disease. This means you will have fewer oral health problems, need less restorative dentistry over your lifetime, and should have comfortable jaw joints and muscles.
So, if you choose to have your teeth aligned, there are numerous advantages:
- Proper alignment enhances tooth and jaw function, thus maximizing long-term oral health and comfort.
- Proper alignment increases the longevity of the dentistry. Both your natural teeth and your restorations will last longer.
- Having straight teeth makes it easier for you and the dental hygienist to keep them clean.
- If you need a crown or bridge, it will be a more optimal restoration if the teeth are aligned properly making space for the restoration.
- Another advantage for some people is the dramatic improvement of facial appearance.
Serenity Dental of Florida offers exceptional expertise, technology, and faster Invisalign treatment.
Dr. Nilash Patel is one of the few preferred Invisalign providers in Florida who have the Invisalign Outcome Simulator. He will use our digital iTero scanner, which is a specially designed intraoral camera to scan your mouth. The scanning process takes 5 to 10 minutes, after which, the simulation software is used to create before and after treatment 3D images. Dr. Nilash Patel will show you the current position of your teeth and how they are likely to appear after Invisalign treatment. He uses touch screen tools to make real-time adjustments to the simulated outcome while you watch. Even if removal of third molars (wisdom teeth) will be a first step, the simulator easily models the opened space and movement of your teeth into optimal alignment. Because you’ll be able to envision the benefits of optimal tooth alignment and the beauty of your future smile after Invisalign treatment, you also will be able to make a confident decision about accepting treatment.
Using the PROPEL© System, Dr. Patel can speed up your orthodontic treatment by as much as 50 to 60%. Most patients only need one PROPEL treatment session, which can be completed in minutes. You will be numbed with a highly concentrated numbing gel and afterwards experience no or only minor discomfort, which can be treated with over the counter acetaminophen (Tylenol). You will be able to immediately return to your normal daily routine.
